Jumping rope is more than just a pastime for Liz Butterfield '10.

At the age of 22, this Ithaca College clinical exercise major holds national titles, including Grand National Champion for Women’s Single Rope Freestyle in 2009.

Check out Butterfield's competition routine below:

She and her sister Emily also won at the 2007 U.S. National Jump Rope Championship.

Butterfield has been jumping rope for 18 years. She enjoys the physical benefits of the sport and has performed and competed all over the world, engaging in healthy competition with other jump ropers who support and encourage each other.

As a young sport, jumping rope is constantly evolving, and according to Butterfield, that can be attributed to the willingness of the competitors to share new tricks.
