A word about this catalog listing:
The films listed in this catalog are valuable audio-visual resources
addressing in their unique ways, the AIDS pandemic in Africa and elsewhere
in the world. While only a few titles can be screened at the ICASA2005
Film Festival, we hope this listing will be of use to educators, organizations
and individuals. We welcome your comments and suggestions for additional
listings, in particular for resources from Western Africa and from
the Nigerian and Ghana popular entertainment film industry.
Housing films on AIDS and struggles for social change
Ithaca College, New York, and the Alliance for Community Transformation
(ACTAfrica), sponsors of the ICASA 2005 Film Festival are also working
collaboratively with the Partnership of the Academy and Community
at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (PACT-OAU) to
create a media resource center initiated by Dr. Peyi Soyinka-Airewele.
The center will serve as a locus for joint international efforts in
combating AIDS and related issues through innovative youth mobilization
and education. The media center project will be coordinated by Peyi
Soyinka-Airewele and Abimbola Soriyan of the Obafemi Awolowo University.
