About The Team

The team started off as an NCAA Division III hockey team during the 1960s. After being dropped from the varsity program in the 70s, the team became part of the club sports program. Brad Buell took control of coaching duties of the club in 1999 and by the next season, Ithaca moved from the Finger Lakes Club Hockey Association and became a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I. In 2004 Ithaca played its first game as a member of the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League, a conference within the ACHA. Recently, the team has joined the New York Collegiate Hockey League. Home games are played at either The Rink in Lansing, NY or at Lynah Arena on Cornells campus. As a member of the NYCHL, Ithaca plays each team in the conference twice, once at home and once away. The rest of the schedule is comprised of non-conference ACHA teams. On average Ithaca plays 25 games pr season. Currently the NYCHL is made up of ten teams. They are Le Moyne, Colgate, Hobart, Morrisville, Olean Friars, St. John Fisher, St. Lawrence, Suny Cortland, and Cornell.
