Gene Cohen is Fall '07 Distinguished Speaker

Fall 2007 Distinguished Speaker will address"The Mature Mind and the Aging Brain."

The Gerontology Institute Fall 2007 Distinguished Speaker will be Gene D. Cohen, M.D., Ph.D. Dr. Cohen is a graduate of Harvard College and the Georgetown University School of Medicine and has a doctorate in Gerontology from The Union Institute. He Is also the author of more than 150 publications in the field of aging, including several edited text books. His individually authored books include The Brain in Human Aging, The Creative Age: Awakening Human Potential in the Second Half of Life, and The Mature Mind: The Positive Power of the Aging Brain.

At the present Dr. Cohen is the Director of the Center on Aging, Health & Humanities at George Washington University where he also hold the positions of Professor of Health Care Sciences and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is the cofounder of the Creativity Discovery Corps whose mission is to identify and preserve the creative accomplishments and rich histories of under-recognized talented older adults.

On Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nabenhauer Room of the Whalen Center for Music, Dr. Cohen will present a lecture entitled The Mature Mind and the Aging Brain: Positive Changes & Creativity in the Second Half of Life. This lecture is free and open to the public. After the presentation Dr. Cohen will hold a book signing of his book The Mature Mind: The Positive Power of the Aging Brain.
