John A. Krout
The main focus of John's research has been in rural aging issues and community-based
services for older adults. He has conducted several national studies on
senior centers and other services for older adults, focusing on participation,
services, resources and community linkages. He received his Ph.D. from
the University of Pennsylvania.

Mary Ann Erickson
Dr. Erickson received her Ph.D. from Cornell University in the
field of Human Development. She also received an M.A. from Cornell and
her B.A. from the University of Rochester where she majored in Mathmatics
and Music History/Theory. Research interests include: residential environments
and moving—how do different environments affect the lives of older
people? How do older people make choices about where they will live? She
is also interested in Social integration—How important are different
kinds of social ties to older people? Can social ties and social participation
help older people with different types of chronic conditions? During the
spring 2007 semester Professor Erickson will be teaching Introduction
to Gerontology and Fieldwork in Gerontology.

Christine Porgorzala
Chris Pogorzala is an Assistant Professor in Gerontology and
Coordinator of the Ithaca College/Longview Partnership. Chris received
an M.S. in Health Education from the State University College at Cortland,
and Bachelor of Science degrees from both Cornell University and Ithaca
College. She teaches Introduction to Aging Studies, Fieldwork in Gerontology,
and recently developed a new course on Dementia and Aging. Chris is interested
in health and aging, dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, and programs
to maintain cognitive vitality. In June 2005, Chris created and implemented
an ongoing ‘brain aerobics’ group called Maintain Your Brain
for residents at Longview. As Coordinator of the IC/LV partnership, Chris
works with faculty to create and implement intergenerational activities
for their classes at Longview. She also helps students to make connections
with Longview staff and residents for course related projects and volunteer
opportunities.

Patty Lynott
Dr. Lynott received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University in
Evanston, IL. Before that she received a Master's degree from Northwestern
and a B.A. from University of Virginia. During the spring 2007 semester
she will be teaching two sections of Introduction to Gerontology, Sociology
of Aging, and Senior Seminar.
