Welcome Back IC Faculty Fall 2007
MEMO
Welcome Back!! I trust your summer was enjoyable and productive. The purpose of this memo is to highlight our programs and opportunities that may be of interest to you.
- CONFERENCE: We are excited to announce that our
annual conference will be a Rural Aging Summit scheduled for September
20 & 21. This Summit is designed as a working conference to assist
in raising awareness of the challenges and opportunities presented by
the growing elder population in rural areas. The Summit will develop
a comprehensive report of policy recommendations to address these concerns
at the state and local level. For more information, please go to http://www.ithaca.edu/agingconference.
- WORKSHOPS: There will be three workshops on a variety
of topics presented this semester. All workshops are on Wednesday afternoons
from 1:30-4:00 p.m. in the Longview Auditorium. Faculty, students, and
staff are welcome to attend at no cost but on a first come – first
served basis. We ask that you register by contacting the Office of Continuing
Education at 4-3143. Information is also available at http://www.ithaca.edu/agingworkshop.
- DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER SERIES: Gene Cohen will be
our distinguished speaker on October 3. He is the first Director of
the Center on Aging, Health & Humanities (established 1994) at George
Washington University where he also holds the positions of Professor

at the appropriate time.
- LINDEN CENTER GRANTS: The Linden Center for Creativity
and Aging, housed and administered through the Gerontology Institute,
