Constitution for ICircus September 9, 2007
Article I: Our club name will be ICircus
Article II- Mission: ICircus provides a fun and relaxed environment for anyone in the Ithaca community interested in learning, teaching, sharing, and performing circus arts. It aims to spread awareness about the fabulousness of circus and its many benefits to the mind, body and soul.
Article III- Affiliations: The club will consist of anyone interested in supporting, learning or teaching circus arts. ICircus works with the Cornell Juggling club and various other circus and performing arts groups whenever possible, acknowledging that the more resources and alliances we have the greater and more creative our organization will be.
Article IV – Membership
* Section 1 – Ithaca College students must comprise at least 51% of the student organization’s membership.
* Section 2 – [Insert eligibility requirements, such as grade point averages, academic majors/minors, and special qualifications which may be required for eligibility that do not illegally discriminate.]
Article V – Officers or Executive Board
* Section 1 – The officers of this organization shall be: Amy Cohen, president, presiding officer, and artistic director. In charge of delegating duties and inspiring creative and safe circus activity. Alex Binek, Secretary, in charge of communication for performances and special activities, Alicia Harper, Vice President, assists the president, PJ Mead, Treasurer and financial officer, in charge of all finances and related reports.
Section 2 – Members must be good communicators, in tune with the mission of ICircus, consistent email checkers to be on the board.
Section 3 – Term length is from the end of April 1st through the following April for the whole school year. The new president will shadow the existing president for the month of April.
Section 4 – Officers will be removed by a majority vote of the active club members.
Section 5 – Reports from the financial officer will be emailed to the president and discussed with club members the last Tuesday of every month.
Article VI – Elections
Section 1 – Election of officers shall be held in April. The secretary will facilitate them.
Section 2 – Vacancies will be filled by a majority vote from active club members.
Section 3 – Vote will be taken by show of hands
Article VII – Meetings
Section 1 – Regular meetings of this organization shall be held twice a week. The president and secretary will take care of communication to members if meeting times stray from the consistent two times a week. Notification may be fairly last minute and club members are responsible for looking out for notification via email or phone call.
Section 2 – Quorum shall consist of any number of members.
Article VIII– Advisor
Section 1 – There shall be at least one Ithaca College faculty or staff advisor who shall serve as an advisor to the organization. This advisor is Dani Novak
Section 2 – The advisor is selected based on their enthusiasm for circus arts and the contributions it makes for the Ithaca community and beyond. They need not have any circus experience.
Section 3 – The advisor will be responsible for signing forms that allow the club to participate in various activities. The advisor will also alert us of various community service activities in the area and will feel free to contact us with suggestions and constructive criticism.
Article IX ICircus Club Members - members of the club will be expected to play an active role in our club community. They will assist with fund raising and community out reach as well as the creative processes we engage in.
Article X: Membership will be open to any IC student, faculty, or member of the community. There will be absolutely no try outs.
Article XI: Dues and Fee’s- Members will be required to help with fundraising, and encouraged to purchase their own equipment if they want to practice in their own spare time, at home, or just to become familiar with their own equipment.
Article XII: Meeting times are Tuesday from 7-8:30 and Thursday from 6-7:30 in the fitness center. We will have board meetings monthly.

Article XIV: ICircus would never discriminate against anyone for any reason, including race, creed, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation.
