Clinic Donates Book in Memory of Former Client

A former client of the Sir Alexander Ewing-Ithaca College Speech and Hearing Clinic has been memorialized through the donation of a book to the College library.

The book was donated in the name of Carlos Figueroa, a client who died last winter in a subway shooting in New York City. Figueroa was on his way home to visit his family.

Marie Sanford, clinical associate professor of speech pathology, described Figueroa as a diligent client and a "sweet, gentle person" and said that his attendance at the clinic was "mutually beneficial."

The clinic provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for a wide range of speech, language, and hearing disorders. More than 800 people are served annually, including area residents as well as Ithaca College staff, students, and faculty. Diagnosis and treatment are provided by students in the speech-language pathology and audiology program under the supervision of faculty who are licensed professionals.
