Scoones Named Acting Dean at Business School

"Bill's two-year term will allow for maximum flexibility as the faculty continues to work on curriculum and program development."

Longtime Ithaca College administrator William A. Scoones has been named to a two-year term as acting dean of the School of Business. He replaces David Long, who was recently named dean of the Bloomsburg (Pa.) University College of Business.

Scoones has served since 1992 as director of the Center for Teacher Education at the College; concurrent with his departure from that position the center has been moved under the auspices of the School of Humanities and Sciences.

"I am thankful Bill has accepted this new task, as his leadership of the School of Business will provide stability during a time of transition," said President James J. Whalen, who will be stepping down at the end of the 1996-97 academic year. "Bill's two-year term will allow for maximum flexibility as the faculty continues to work on curriculum and program development. It will also provide some continuity as the next president works with the board of trustees to plan for the school's future."

Scoones joined the Ithaca College faculty in 1969 as an assistant professor of education and previously served as acting dean of the School of Business in 1977-78. Among other administrative positions at the College, he has been assistant provost, dean of graduate studies and continuing education, director of institutional research and planning, and dean and special assistant to the provost for health sciences.
