Ithaca College is renowned for many things, including its athletic program -- one of the best in Division III. Here's a look at some specifics:
The College will offer 23 varsity sports during the 1996-97 school year -- 12 for women and 11 for men. The Bombers are members of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), the Empire Athletic Association (EAA) in men's and women's basketball, and the Super Six in men's lacrosse.
Ithaca teams have claimed three NCAA Division III championships in football and wrestling, two each in baseball and women's soccer, and one in field hockey. Bomber squads have also produced individual national titlists in gymnastics, swimming, track, and wrestling.
A year ago, Bomber clubs were a combined 226-113-12 (.661) and 19 of 23 teams were represented in postseason play-offs. Ithaca had 23 student-athletes earn all-American recognition.
