Katherine Compagni, writing, presented a paper, "Televised Debates: Their Nature and Role in Presidential Campaigns," at the November 2 mid-Atlantic conference of the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association in Philadelphia. She has also been invited to present a paper at the 1997 national conference of College Composition and Communication in Phoenix, Arizona.
A woodcut by Harry McCue, art, is being exhibited at the Main/Maritime 14th Annual Juried Show at the University of Maine at Presque Isle during December and January.
London Center director Michael McGreevey has been elected
to a two-year term as president of the Association of American
Study Abroad Programs, an organization with some 100 members.
McGreevey will be responsible for representing AASAP to outside
organizations such as
the American Embassy, the American/British Chamber of Commerce,
and the British
Department of Education, as well as British university counterparts.
