The
Ithaca College men's soccer team defeated visiting Bethany College 3-2
on Sunday, November 24, in NCAA Division III quarterfinal action at Upper
Terrace Field. The Bombers came from behind for the victory when junior
midfielder Matt Morrison (number 7, above) scored the game-winner with
2:10 left in regulation.
The win moved Ithaca to the November 30 NCAA semifinals on the campus
of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where the Bombers battled eventual
national champion College of New Jersey to a 0-0 overtime tie before falling
5-4 in a penalty kick shootout. The semifinal appearance was the first
in the history of the men's soccer program.
