High school sophomores will have an opportunity to get a college-level education -- and the credits that go along with it -- in a new program beginning this summer at Ithaca College. The two-week Summer College for High School Sophomores is intended to expose high school students to the Ithaca tradition of active academic learning in a conservatory tradition: superb teaching by committed faculty, small classes, and outstanding facilities. The College is particularly interested in attracting ambitious high school sophomores with above-average intellectual and leadership potential. The program runs July 6-18, with participants earning two college credits for completion of their chosen course. Students can enroll in 1 of the 10 course offerings, each of which reflects the diversity of faculty interests and expertise:
Outside academic hours students will participate in a variety of special seminars, including leadership training, the college admissions process, study skills, and career planning and placement. In their free time, students can take advantage of an abundance of recreational opportunities -- from summer theater to sailboarding on Cayuga Lake.
