Concerns About Retirement Planning?

Ithaca College staff, faculty, and even students concerned about planning for their financial futures will have an opportunity to hear from -- and question -- experts such as nationally syndicated columnist Jane Bryant Quinn through a live satellite teleconference on Tuesday, October 28. The program, "The Art of Investing: Tips from America's Experts," will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall. It will also be broadcast live on ICTV channel 54.

The teleconference is sponsored by TIAA-CREF, the premier pension system for education and research institutions. Representatives from TIAA-CREF and from the Ithaca College Office of Personnel Services will be on hand in the Emerson Suites to discuss retirement and investing issues before and after the program. The teleconference is free and open to the campus community; anyone interested in attending is asked to contact the benefits department at 274-3245 to reserve a space.

The teleconference will originate from New York City and will be moderated by ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts. In addition to Quinn, panelists will include Nobel Prize-winning economist James Tobin; Washburn University president and former chair of the National Association of College and University Business Officers Jerry Farley; Chris Farrell, senior economics and business editor for Minnesota Public Radio; and Martin Leibowitz, vice chairman and chief investment officer for TIAA-CREF.

The panelists will discuss asset allocation, investment risk and reward, mutual funds, and retirement plans, among other topics. Viewers in the Emerson Suites and at teleconference sites from across the country will have an opportunity to ask questions directly during a live call-in segment.
