Theater Season to Continue with Heidi |

The Ithaca College theater season will continue on Thursday, December 4, with a presentation of Wendy Wasserstein's The Heidi Chronicles. Directed by Norman Johnson, the production will run through December 6. Each performance will be staged at 8:00 p.m. in the Clark Theatre, Dillingham Center for the Performing Arts. There will be an opening night reception following the Thursday night performance, and a "talk-back" session following the Saturday night performance will feature the director, designer, and actors. The Heidi Chronicles is a drama-comedy focusing on Heidi's transformation from an idealistic college girl to a women questioning how she let go of her youthful dreams and ambitions. An art historian, Heidi is torn between family and career and leading a life campaigning for equality for the next generation of women. Against the backdrop of some of the most turbulent decades in American history, Heidi loves, fights, wins, loses, and comes to terms with her place in the world. The Heidi Chronicles originally opened at the Playwrights Horizon
in New York City in 1988 and moved to Broadway after its first successful
year. In 1989, The Heidi Chronicles opened to a sold-out audience
at the Plymouth Theatre, where it spent 18 months and won both the 1989
Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award. The production team for The Heidi Chronicles includes scenic designer Sebastien Grouard '99, costume designer Kelly J. Czosnek '99, sound designer Tyler Roach '99, lighting designer Diana Shaller '99, technical director Jeff Paradise '98, dramaturg Chloe Howard '98, and stage manager Rebecca Barrett '99. Management personnel includes box office manager Richard Callison '00 and house manager Kati Leeman '00. Performances are Thursday, December 4, through Saturday, December 6,
at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for the Thursday night performance are $4.50 for Ithaca
College faculty and staff, students, senior citizens and Friends of Ithaca
College; and $5.00 for the general public. Tickets for Friday and Saturday
nights are $6.00 and $7.00. Special discounts are available for groups of
15 or more. |
