Quilt Next Up for Ithaca College Theater

 
 

Quilt, a musical written as a tribute to the victims of AIDS, will open this week at Ithaca College. Featuring lyrics by Jim Morgan and music by Michael Stockler, the play will run April 16-18 and April 21-25. The performances are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. each evening in Clark Theatre, Dillingham Center for the Performing Arts, and a 2:00 p.m. matinee is set for Saturday, April 25.

Proceeds from a special dress-rehearsal performance on Wednesday, April 15, will be donated to AIDSWork of Tompkins County. Admission is $10, and tickets are available at the AIDSWork office. Call 272-4098 for more information.

Quilt, a compilation of narratives by lovers, spouses, family, and friends of victims, shows their personal struggles with the denial, pain, and acceptance of AIDS. Based on the well-known NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, the play includes the stories contained in the 32 panels on one block of the quilt.

Quilt is directed by Susannah Berryman and choreographed by Mary Corsaro. Jeff Smith '99 is the musical director.

Turner '00 (Darryl Brown), Ben Tostado '01 (Mikey Mike), Billy Zavelson '00 (Stewart), Kristy L. Merola '00 (Roberta Andrews), Dennis Hurley '01 (Mr. Leonce), Becky Gibel '01 (Katy Jane Adams), Jerad Bortz '01 (Uncle Billy), V. Damien Carter '01 (Toby), Kenya J. Hamilton '00 (Jane), Christine Emsley '98 (Mrs. D'Angelo), Larry Lees '01 (Mr. D'Angelo), and Leon Land Gersing '00 (Charlie). Also included in the cast are Brittany Alexander '00, Kip Garwood '00, Piper Goodeve '01, Michael O'Brien '01, and Franklyn Warfield '01. Tom Gleeson '99 is the scenic designer, and the costume designer is Greg Robbins. Jeff Paradise '99 is the technical director and Shannon Bouchard '98 is the lighting designer. Tracey J. Hibbard '99 is the stage manager, while Brad Gyorgak '99 will arrange and design sound for this production.

Tickets for Tuesday through Thursday evening performances and the Saturday matinee are $4.50 each for Ithaca College faculty, staff, students, senior citizens, and Friends of Ithaca College, and $5.00 for the general public. Friday and Saturday evening tickets for those groups are $6.00 and $7.00, respectively. Special discounts are available for groups of 15 or more.
