Visiting Artist Series Continues

Cellist Steven Doane will grace the Ford Hall Auditorium stage on Tuesday, September 22, as part of the School of Music's Visiting Artists Series. Free and open to the public, Doane's performance is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.

Since his 1982 debuts with the Rochester Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, Doane's career has emcompassed an extraordinary range of musical activities. He is active as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician, and holds posts at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester and the Royal College of Music in London. His international concerto schedule has taken him to Edinburgh and Dublin, and he has performed with such leading orchestras as the San Francisco, Baltimore, and Milwaukee Symphonies and the Moscow Radio Orchestra. Recent tour stops in the United States have included Boston, Washington, Chicago, and Milwaukee.

His two recent recordings on the Bridge label with pianist Barry Snyder have won critical acclaim, and in Ithaca, Snyder will accompany Doane in a performance of works by Martinu, Bach, Boulanger, and Poulenc.
