Ithaca College Parents Continue Support

Ithaca College parents continued their giving ways in the 1997–98 fund year. The Parents Fund received gifts totaling $160,570 from 2,086 parents of current students and alumni. Those totals are just slightly lower than the previous year, but 26 percent of the parents solicited in 1997–98 made gifts. Thanks are due to John and Paula McClung, the 1997–98 chairpersons, for their leadership of the Parents Fund.

As the chart to the right shows, parents designated their gifts to many areas of the College. Most parents chose to make their contributions undesignated, or available to be used by the College where the need is greatest. Others chose to designate their support to the capital campaign for the School of Music, to the academic schools, or to specific purposes such as athletics, the campus chaplaincies, the library, or scholarships. No matter how they are directed, the College benefits from parent gifts, which are an important part of the annual giving campaign.

The Parents Fund Committee is gearing up for the 1998–99 fund year under the leadership of its new chairpersons, Sherry ’72 and Stephen Shulman P’99, P’02. Any parents who are interested in serving on the committee can contact Jennifer Lockley, associate director of the Annual Fund, by phone at 607-274-1155 or by
