Gay, Lesbian Civil Rights Subject of Series Talk

Barbara Raab, a producer for the NBC Nightly News, will discuss "News Coverage of Gay and Lesbian Civil Rights" at Ithaca College on Monday, November 9. Scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall, her presentation is free and open to the public.

A television journalist since 1982, Raab was a field producer and writer for Dateline NBC before joining the Nightly News, where she works with anchor Tom Brokaw. She is a member of the NBC News Diversity Advisory Council, which advises news executives on diversity issues in coverage and staffing. Raab has served on the board of directors of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, for which she authored its "Report on Gay and Lesbian Issues in Electronic Journalism." She holds a law degree from New York University School of Law.

Raab’s appearance is part of a series of speakers and panel discussions being held at Ithaca College this fall to recognize and honor the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
