Friends Cited for Service to IC

The Friends of Ithaca College has been commended by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees for 40 years of service and achievement. President Peggy R. WIlliams will formally present a resolution of appreciation during the group’s annual meeting on Friday, December 4.

Established in 1958 by College trustee Roland "Red" Fowler and his group of 100 "friends," the organization has a long tradition of support for the College. Its first project raised $250,000 to assist with the construction of the first academic building on South Hill, and its most recent raised more than $100,000 toward the building of the soon-to-be-completed James J. Whalen Center for Music. Additionally, the Friends continues to invest in the education of local students by supporting an endowed scholarship fund.
