Don Lifton,
management, presented a paper, "Black Student Hardiness
as an Indicator of Likely Persistance to Graduation: Baseline
Results from a Longitudinal Study," at the recent 1998 Minority
Student Today conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Thomas Swensen, exercise
and sport sciences, has been included in the fifth edition of
Whos Who Among Americas Teachers, 1998. All
of the approximately 130,000 listed teachers were selected by
one or more former students who themselves were listed in either
Whos Who Among American High School Students or
The National Deans List.
Michael Galvan,
music; Sandra Herndon, organizational communication, learning,
and design; Richard Miller, dean, School of Health Sciences
and Human Performance; Abraham Mulugetta, finance and
international business; Martin Sternstein, mathematics
and computer science; Hector Velez, sociology; and graduate
students Hong Li and Edwin Robles were presenters
at the recent AHANA forum. Hosted by Ithaca College, the forum
featured a graduate school fair, a financial aid and admissions
presentation, and keynote remarks by Eleanor Reynolds, Cornell
University.
Gary English,
health promotion and human movement, is a co-principal investigator
for a New York State Department of Education Educational Goals
2000 grant. The $20,000 grant is designed to align current practices
in health education teaching to state and national health standards.
Stephen Tropiano
87, director of the Ithaca College Communications Program
in Los Angeles, recently participated in a panel entitled "Coming
Out Laughing: Gay and Lesbian Characters in Situation Comedies."
Tropiano, who teaches cinema at the Los Angeles program, is currently
writing a book about the history of gay and lesbian representation
on television. |
