Commencement Planning: Some Hints
Ithaca Colleges 104th Commencement will be held at 11:00
a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Butterfield Stadium. (See "Severe Weather Plan" for procedures
in case inclement weather prevents an outdoor ceremony.)
Here are some tips for those planning to attend:
- Plan to arrive on campus at least 90 minutes before the beginning
of the Commencement ceremony. Traffic is very heavy on the morning
of Commencement, so allow extra time for local travel, arrival
on campus, and finding a seat at the stadium.
- Wear comfortable shoes for walking from the parking lots,
to the stadium, and around campus.
- Because of bleacher seating at the stadium, you may want
to bring a cushion or blanket to make yourself more comfortable.
- No concessions will be sold at the stadium, though complimentary
bottled water will be available. You may want to bring appropriate
refreshments with you, depending on the weather.
- No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the stadium during
Commencement.
- The weather in Ithaca is unpredictable, so dress accordingly
in layers. Windbreakers, rain gear, and sun block are advisable.
- Commencement will be televised and can be viewed at various
indoor locations around campus. Guests who may be affected by
excessively hot or cold weather or have other limitations may
want to use this option rather than viewing the ceremony outdoors.
- Handicapped seating and parking are available. You must register
in advance for a parking permit and tickets for the handicapped
seating area. To register, please call the Traffic Bureau at
(607) 274-3756.
