Environmental Issues Are Topic of Talk

An expert on environmental issues and arguments will discuss "Resolving Environmental Disputes: How Private, Public, and Nongovernmental Organizations Differ" on Wednesday, April 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Clark Lounge, Egbert Hall. The talk by Susan Senecah, associate professor at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, is free and open to the public.

Senecah teaches courses on public participation, environmental public policy, environmental conflict, and the political and cultural history of the American environmental movement. She has written and consulted on communication dynamics as related to issues of land use, hazardous waste remediation, facility siting, wildlife, and community planning for sustainability. Her publications include "Forever Wild or Forever in Battle: Metaphors of Empowerment in the Continuing Controversy over the Adirondacks," a chapter in the book Earthtalk: Communication Empowerment for Environmental Action.

Senecah’s appearance is sponsored by the Department of Organizational Communication, Learning, and Design in the Roy H. Park School of Communications. There will be a short reception with refreshments following her talk. For more information call David Shapiro at 274-1745.
