Graham Stewart to Lead Alumni Relations
Graham Stewart, who has served
since 1993 as director of music admission in the School of Music,
has been named director of alumni relations for the College.
Stewart is a 1981 Ithaca College graduate.
"As director of music admission, Graham successfully
implemented plans to increase music applications, planned concert
tours at such prestigious locations as Lincoln Center and Carnegie
Hall, and represented the College at recruiting events and professional
conferences," said Shelley Semmler, vice president for institutional
advancement. "This experience will serve him and the Office
of Alumni Relations well as we plan and execute major alumni
events and implement a program to enhance the participation of
alumni in College programs."
Among other duties, Stewart will also be responsible for recruiting
and providing leadership training for alumni volunteers, working
with an extensive national network of alumni clubs, providing
staff support and direction for the alumni association board
of directors, developing opportunities for enhanced communication
with alumni, and participating in the execution of the Colleges
fund-raising program. As a member of the institutional advancement
team, he will work closely with the Offices of Resource Development,
Admission, Career Services, Student Affairs and Campus Life,
and Multicultural Affairs and with the deans of Ithacas
five schools.
Stewart earned a B.F.A. degree in music in 1981 and is currently
studying for his masters degree in communications from
the College. Prior to joining the Ithaca College administration
he served as director of marketing and public relations for the
Cornell University Center for Performing Arts (198793);
marketing coordinator, sales manager, and senior marketing specialist
for Time Warner Cablevision (198387); and account executive
for the Ithaca Times (198283). He is the owner of
Creative Types, a marketing service specializing in not-for-profit
businesses.
In 198182 Stewart toured the United States and Asia
with the Gregg Smith Singers. He continues to perform professionally,
as a soloist and in opera and musical theater roles with the
Ithaca Opera, Hangar Theatre, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Sage
Chapel Choir, and several Ithaca College ensembles.
Until the middle of May, Stewart will be splitting his time
between the Office of Alumni Relations and the School of Music.
He succeeds Stephen Kimmons, who took a similar position at Franklin
and Marshall College last August. |
