Getting Down, Getting Friendly . . . Reunion ’99, June 3–6

A variety of programs and activities for alumni and their families will be held as part of Reunion ’99, scheduled for Thursday through Sunday, June 3–6. Members of the campus community are encouraged to participate and help welcome alumni back to campus.

A special invitation is extended to faculty and staff to join in on the fun at the traditional Reunion picnic on the quad, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. This year there will also be an appearance by popular musicians from the class of 1979.

As usual, the weekend will include such gatherings as the volunteer recognition breakfast for those who have helped support the College’s Reunion, alumni clubs, fund-raising, admission, and career services efforts; "A Little Night Music," featuring performances by music alumni and faculty; receptions for former student leaders and for "perennials" (those who graduated at least 50 years ago); the all-class banquet and awards ceremony, at which the 1999 Ithaca College Alumni Association Awards will be presented; and an after-dinner dance with a choice of music — the big band swing of Spiegle Willcox and His All-Stars or the R&B soul sounds of Destination.

Reunion attendees will have the opportunity to select from a host of off-campus excursions, including the sixth annual Jim Butterfield Golf Tournament; tours of Six Mile Creek Vineyard and Baker’s Acres Herb and Perennial Gardens; brunch and dinner cruises of Cayuga Lake aboard the MV Manhattan; a hike and ice cream social at Buttermilk Falls State Park; and visits to the Sciencenter, Farmers Market, and New Product Showcase and Learning Center. Back on South Hill, participants can tour the campus’s newest additions — the James J. Whalen Center for Music, the health sciences center, and the fitness center — along with the Longview residential facility, the Center for Trading and Analysis of Financial Instruments in the School of Business, and even the College’s composting facility.

More information about Reunion ’99 can be found in the registration material recently mailed to the campus community, by calling the Office of Alumni Relations at 274-3192, or by visiting the alumni relations Web site at www.ithaca.edu/alumni.
