Michael McGreevey Named Executive Assistant to President
Michael
McGreevey, most recently the director for special programs as
well as interim director of alumni relations in the Office of
Institutional Advancement, has been appointed executive assistant
to the president. His new responsibilities will include working
closely with President Peggy R. Williams on such issues as policy
review, institutional planning, and special events. In addition,
he will support President Williamss work with higher education
organizations and serve as a member of the Presidents Council.
He will start his new job in mid-July.
McGreevey earned a bachelors degree in interpersonal
and public communication from Bowling Green State University
in 1986 and then obtained a masters degree in higher education
and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont.
He came to Ithaca College in 1988 as assistant to the director
in what was then called the Office of Campus Activities and Orientation.
Since that time he has served the College in a number of capacities,
including director of the London Center, the Colleges study
abroad program in England. McGreevey held that position from
1993 until 1997, when he joined the Office of Institutional Advancement.
There he played a leadership role in development activities,
including directing the Friends of Ithaca College, the local
community organization that supports the College, and coordinating
the London Centers 25th-anniversary scholarship campaign.
He also coordinated the Presidents Associates, which recognizes
the Colleges strongest supporters. In addition, for much
of this year he oversaw the Colleges alumni activities
as interim director, prior to the appointment of Graham Stewart
81 as director of alumni relations this past spring.
McGreevey replaces Sharon Runge, who will be relocating to
Maryland with her family.
