Parents Fund Report for Fall 1999

Ithaca College parents continued their generosity to the College in the 1998–99 fund year. Gifts to the Parents Fund from 2,034 parents of current students and alumni totaled $179,347. This marks a 12 percent increase in gifts over the previous year, with a steady participation rate of 26 percent. Thanks are due to chairpersons Stephen and Sherry Shulman for their leadership of the Parents Fund as well as to the members of the Parents Fund Committee, who gave their time generously to help make the 1998–99 fund a success.

Allocation of Parent Gifts in 1998-99As the chart indicates, parents designated their gifts to a variety of areas at the College. Many parents chose to make an unrestricted contribution, that is, available to be used by the College where the need is greatest. Others chose to designate their support to an individual school or to specific purposes such as athletics, the campus chaplaincies, the library, or scholarships. No matter how they are directed, the College benefits greatly from parent gifts, which are an important part of the annual giving campaign.

The Parents Fund Committee is gearing up for the 1999–2000 fund year. Any parents who are interested in serving on the committee or who would like more information may contact Jennifer Lockley, associate director of the Annual Fund, by calling (607) 274-1155 or e-mailing jlockley@ithaca.edu.
