Faculty Members to Take Part in Community Poets Reading Series

Five of the six poets in this fall’s Ithaca Community Poets reading series are faculty members at Ithaca College. The three fall readings will be held at the Dewitt Historical Society of Tompkins County, 401 E. State Street. Admission is free, but people attending are asked to make a contribution to the historical society for hosting the event. All readings will take place on Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.

The first reading is scheduled for October 23, featuring Mary Beth O’Connor and Diane McPherson, both assistant professors of writing. The November 20 reading will feature English professor Kevin Murphy and associate professor of writing Fred Wilcox. Anthony DiRenzo, an assistant professor of writing, and local poet Linda Jaekel Seils will read on December 11. An open session will follow each of the scheduled readings, with audience members being allowed to read on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Ithaca Community Poets was founded in 1974. For more information call Katharyn Howd Machan, assistant professor of writing, at 274-3325.
