Thursday, September 7

ART

Opening reception for Mad Sally's Marvelous Adventures, an exhibit of paintings by associate professor of art Joy Adams; 5:00-7:00 p.m., Handwerker Gallery.

CELEBRATION

Unity Day, an hourlong program featuring speakers Roger Richardson, director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs; Brian McAree, acting vice president for student affairs and campus life; Daniel Tillapaugh '01, president of the Student Government Association; and Brent Scarpo, producer/ director; noon, "free speech rock," Campus Center. An open house in the Office of Multicultural Affairs, 324 Egbert Hall, will follow from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

FILM

Journey to a Hate-Free Millennium, segments from a documentary film by producer/director Brent Scarpo, with a discussion to follow; 7:30 p.m., Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall.

"Dimensions of African Music in the New World," a Reverberations: Music of the African Diaspora series pre-concert lecture by ethnomusicologist Kazadi wa Mukuna; 7:00 p.m., recital hall. Performance by Women of the Calabash, a vocal and percussion trio; 8:15 p.m., Ford Hall.

Saturday, September 9

CONTINUING EXHIBITS

Mad Sally's Marvelous Adventures, featuring the "Mad Sally" paintings of associate art professor Joy Adams; through September 30, Handwerker Gallery. Located on the ground floor of the Caroline Werner Gannett Center, the Handwerker Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (Thursday until 9:00 p.m.); Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 2:00-6:00 p.m. The gallery is closed when the College is not in session.
