Kudos

Heinz Koch, chemistry, presented a paper, "Proton-Transfer Reactions between Carbon Acids and Methoxide by Density-Functional Techniques," at the 219th national meeting of the American Chemical Society in March. The paper was coauthored by Vincent DeTuri, chemistry, Neal Abrams '00, Jason Nichols '00, Masaaki Mishima, and Hans Zuilof.

Don Lifton, management, presented a paper, "Exploring the Linkage on International Campuses of First-Year Student 'Hardiness' with Persistence to Sophomore Year," at the 13th International Conference of the First-Year Experience in Reading, England, in July.

"Not in Our City, Not on Our Campus, Not in Our Community," a program designed to inform community members about bias-related incidents on the Cornell University and Ithaca College campuses, won program of the year honors at the annual conference of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls at the University of Colorado at Boulder in May.

Brooke Olson and Jack Rossen, anthropology, have been instrumental in Ithaca College's becoming a participant in the Native American Studies New York State Consortium. The group is composed of academics and Native Americans who have joined together to present Native American issues to the public.
