David Prunty to Direct Office of Conference and Events Services

David Prunty, currently the assistant director of residential life for operations at Ithaca College, has been chosen to direct the College’s Office of Conference and Events Services. In his new duties he will be responsible for coordinating and administering all aspects of event planning, special programs, and summer housing. He will start his new job October 1.

"David has the skills, institutional knowledge, positive relationships, vision, and energy to continue to make our conference and event services department even stronger than it is already," says Brian McAree, acting vice president for student affairs and campus life.

A 13-year employee of Ithaca College, Prunty has held increasingly responsible positions in the Offices of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs. Serving first as a residence coordinator and then as area coordinator, he was named assistant director of judicial affairs in 1994. Three years later he be-came assistant director of residential life for operations, supervising the management of 31 residence halls and apartment facilities housing some 4,000 students.

He has served on numerous College committees, including chairing the Campus Life Awards Committee, and is currently a member of the Student Affairs and Campus Life Technology Committee. He has been honored with the Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers New Professional Award and the Ithaca College Employee Recognition Award.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 13 years at Ithaca," Prunty says. "While I am certainly sorry to be leaving residential life and judicial affairs, I am very excited about assuming a new and challenging position with the Office of Conference and Events Services."

Prunty holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a master’s degree in student personnel services from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
