Trustees Set Tuition RateTuition at Ithaca College will rise by 4.75 percent for the 2001 school year. At its February meeting the board of trustees approved a budget that sets tuition at $20,104, standard room and board at $8,615, and health insurance at $275, bringing the total cost of attending Ithaca next year to $28,994. In a letter to students’ parents announcing the rates, President Peggy R. Williams wrote that the modest increase reflects an ongoing commitment to supporting and enhancing the College’s academic programs. "We will make capital expenditures to improve technology on campus, upgrade and enhance facilities, and provide equipment that will ensure a quality experience for our students and all members of our campus com-munity." Williams also noted that the budget provides for a comprehensive institutional financial aid program, in order to make an Ithaca College education accessible for all students. In addition, the College continues to work with Congress and with the state legislature to ensure that important assistance programs are available for students and families. She invited parents to add their support to this effort. "Ithaca has long maintained a practice of good fiscal management, with timely and appropriate investment in its programs and facilities," she wrote. "The result is a high-quality education consistently cited in college guides and national magazines as one of the ‘best values’ available in higher education today." |
