Family Weekend Offers a Glimpse of College LifeParents and other family members of current stu- dents will get a chance to sample the Ithaca College experience at this year’s Family Weekend. Set to run Friday through Sunday, October 5-7, Family Weekend will offer visitors a selection of concerts, sporting events, theater performances, good food, presentations, open houses, and a Saturday brunch with College president Peggy R. Williams.
Certain events require tickets (noted on the schedule), which may be picked up with the registration packets. Using their Ithaca College ID cards, students may pick up packets for their families at the registration desk. Tickets are available to Family Weekend registrants only. Seating is limited for each performance of Romeo and Juliet and for each concert, and requests will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of tickets is included in the registration fee. In order to defray some of the costs the College incurs in offering Family Weekend, a fee is charged for each family member and guest attending. Ithaca College students, when accompanied by family members and guests, are not required to pay this fee, but they must request complimentary tickets for those events that require them. Originally known as Parents Weekend, this special series of events was renamed Family Weekend in 1999 to reflect the fact that extended family members such as grandparents and siblings often visit campus with parents. The name change was a way to make relatives interested in gaining insight to the Ithaca College experience feel more welcome. Anyone with questions should call the Family Weekend information line at (607) 274-3702 or visit the Family Weekend website.
