Fundraising for Victims
Kelly
McPherson ’05 (seated) sold a "liberty link" to Amanda Kurth
’05 as part of a student fund-raising effort for the victims of the September
11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Students could buy strips
of paper for a dollar apiece and inscribe them with a message. The strips
were made into a chain of links and sent to Miami University, in Ohio,
where chains from other colleges and universities were assembled into
one big chain and sent to New York City. "The chain shows that college
students around the nation are linked in love, support, and patriotism.
The money will be donated to various relief funds," says Michelle
Theis ’05, who organized the local effort as part of the service component
of the Park Scholar program. Ithaca College students bought 180 links
