Ensemble X Performs in Ford AuditoriumEnsemble X, Ithaca’s acclaimed new-music band, will perform a free concert in Ford Hall on Sunday, October 28. The performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. and feature works by Andrew Waggoner, Dana Wilson, Karel Husa , Laurence Bitensky, and Aaron Copland. The conductors will be Cornell University faculty members Mark Davis Scatterday, professor of music and chair of the music department, and Steven Stucky, the Given Foundation Professor of Composition. A pre-concert discussion will take place in the Iger Lecture Hall at 7:30 p.m. Composed of faculty members from Ithaca College and Cornell University, the ensemble performs both very new music of the "classical" tradition --- typically music written within the past 5 to 10 years --- and established works from earlier in the 20th century. Ensemble X was founded in 1997.
