Kudos

Ryan Mayo, campus safety, was a member of the softball team composed of local law-enforcement officers that took first-place honors at a Cops for Kids benefit tournament in Oswego. Fifteen teams representing law-enforcement agencies across New York State participated in the tourney, which raised $2,000 for the Melissa Froio Foundation. Named after a six-year-old girl suffering from Batten disease, the foundation conducts research to cure this fatal, inherited disorder of the nervous system. Mayo and his teammates sent their first-place trophy, tournament MVP award, and a team jersey to the young girl.

Harry McCue, art, has had one of his works, Scarecrow #22, selected for showing at Sixty Square Inches National Small Print Exhibition at Purdue University Galleries. The exhibit will run from November 26 to January 27.

Michael McGreevey, office of the president, and David Prunty, conference and event services, were among 23 local residents who recently completed Leadership Tompkins, a program designed to prepare future leaders for the complex challenges facing their communities. The program included eight monthly full-day sessions and a commencement ceremony. Prunty and McGreevey took part in a project that established a website for Leadership Tompkins. The organization is affiliated with the Community Leadership Association and sponsored locally by the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce and Tompkins Cortland Community College.

Susan Weisend, art, exhibited her work at Cornell University’s Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art last summer. The two-month exhibit was called Three Ithaca Artists.
