Three Ensembles Will Perform Choral and Wind Music Concert

Three ensembles from the Ithaca College School of Music will give a free concert on Thursday, March 7. The performance featuring the chorus, wind ensemble, and women’s chorale will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

The chorus, directed by Janet Galván, will perform the Greek folk song The Myth, music by the Brazilian Krao Indians, and Daemon irrepit callidus by Hungarian composer György Orbán.

Galván will also direct the women’s chorale in performing works by Thomas Weekels and Maurice Durufle. The wind ensemble, conducted by Stephen Peterson, will perform Circular Marches, a movement from Dan Welcher’s Symphony no. 3 for Concert Band (Shaker Life).

As a finale, the wind ensemble and chorus will join together to perform Samuel Adler’s Rogues and Lovers, one of the few works written for wind ensemble and chorus.
