At its February
meeting, the board of trustees awarded emeritus status to a retired
biology professor and voted on tenure and promotion recommendations.
|
Tuition at
Ithaca College will rise by 4.96 percent for the 2002-2003 school
year. At its February meeting the board of trustees approved a
budget that sets tuition at $21,102 and standard room and board
charges at $8,960, bringing the total cost of attending next year
to $30,062.

The board
of trustees has given its stamp of approval to a master plan for
future campus land use and development. The endorsement came at
the boards February 13-14 meeting in New York City, at which
trustees also approved a marketing initiative for the College
and took part in presentations at the Frederick Douglass Academy
in Harlem.

The 48-member
Ithaca College Choir, conducted by Lawrence Doebler and joined
by four faculty guest artists from the School of Music, will spend
its spring break on a six-day tour of the Republic of Ireland.

The senior
class gift campaign kicked off February 22 with some ambitious
goals --- a 40 percent participation rate and an overall giving
level of $20,000.

The WRC monitors
the enforcement of manufacturing codes of conduct that are designed
to ensure that factories producing clothing and other goods bearing
the names of colleges and universities respect the basic rights
of workers.

Video artist
Gary Hill’s installation Wall Piece will be on display
at the Handwerker Gallery from March 4 to April 7.

This spring
the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute Workshop Series is conducting
five presentations on aging issues.

In an effort
to facilitate the development of integrated study programs, interim
provost and vice president for academic affairs William Scoones
has commissioned the formation of the Interdisciplinary Task Force.
|
Though she
has only been on the job since the beginning of the semester,
Ithaca Colleges coordinator of health promotion and substance
abuse prevention believes the groundwork has already been laid
for her efforts to bear fruit.

Experimental
filmmaker Abraham Ravett will be spending three days at Ithaca
College as the Hillel distinguished artist in residence.

Victoria
Chiang --- a violist whose playing has been cited by the Denver
Post for its dusky beauty and flawless execution --- will
give a free guest recital on Tuesday, March 19.
|
The Office
of Multicultural Affairs distinguished artist in residence worked
with students and local teens on a documentary about Ithacas
southside neighborhood.
|
Three ensembles
from the Ithaca College School of Music will give a free concert
on Thursday, March 7.
|
Documentary
filmmaker and activist Jacquie Soohen will be spending three days
at the College in March as the Women Direct artist in residence.
