Larry Hajime
Shinagawa, chair and associate professor in the Department of
American Multicultural Studies/Ethnic Studies (AMCS) at Sonoma
State University in California, will begin his new duties at Ithaca
College this summer.

Some 1,327
graduates will be awarded degrees at Ithaca College’s 107th Commencement
on Saturday, May 18, with award-winning actor James Earl Jones
delivering the main address.
Commencement
eve concert features ritual music --- a highlight of the Ithaca
College Commencement weekend will be the 35th annual Commencement
Eve Concert.

College administrators
joined friends and members of the Hockett family on April 14 at
the dedication ceremony for the Hockett Family Recital Hall in
the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

Named
in honor of a longtime College faculty member and administrator,
the annual awards recognize students who have significantly influenced
the Ithaca community through acts of service.
|
The Ithaca
College Gerontology Institute will present a daylong conference
addressing the current state of long-term care service delivery
in New York State and the nation as well as innovative --- and
sometimes controversial --- alternative delivery methods and systems.
|
Geared toward
girls and boys ages 10 to 16, Take a Child to Work Day offers
College employees a chance to bring their children to campus to
learn about careers and educational programs, promote self-esteem,
and help families make a connection between home and career.

"This
annual event has always been open to all alumni as well as all
members of the Ithaca College community," says Gretchen DeBolt,
M.M. ’93, assistant director of alumni relations.

The
2002 Celebration of Service was held on April 12 and 13 to acknowledge
the College community’s commitment to volunteer activities.
