IC Softball Team Wins National Championship Ithaca edged Lake Forest College 1-0 to win the softball program's first national title. Biochemistry Major Named Goldwater Scholar Jan Pawlicki is one of 309 undergraduates chosen from a national pool of 1,155 applicants for a Goldwater Scholarship for the 2002-3 academic year. Chemistry Graduate Is Recipient of Fulbright Grant William Pomerantz has become the ninth Ithaca College student in the last 11 years to receive a Fulbright grant. College Names New Director for Teacher Education Timothy Glander --- currently associate professor and the chair of the Department of Education at Rockhurst University in Kansas City --- has been appointed to the directorship of the College's Center for Teacher Education. Board of Trustees Extends President Williams's Contract The Board has announced the renewal and extension through 2006 of the employment contract for President Peggy R. Williams. The extension was approved unanimously by the board during its meeting. Faculty Members Receive Awards of Excellence Three members of the faculty have been honored for their outstanding accomplishments in teaching, service, and scholarship. Three Business School Students Take National Honors Three juniors from William Tastle's Management Information Systems class won top honors in the Student Paper Competition at the Association of Information Technology Professionals National College Conference in Kansas City last April..   Health Center Achieves Joint Commission Reaccreditation The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations also found the Hammond Health Center's laboratory in compliance with standards for clinical and pathological laboratories. Siconolfi to Serve as Dean of School of HSHP The recently appointed dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance will begin his new duties in Ithaca in July. Board of Trustees Elects Two New Members, Promotes Professor T. Michael Long, a partner in Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., was elected to a four-year term and Syrena Shirley, a sophomore majoring in business administration, will serve for two years as student trustee.
