Conklin
will help in the planning, implementation, and evaluation
of academic programs in the
school, working closely with departments and programs
on curricular matters while providing administrative support
to other school committees and initiatives.

Thanks to
a unique partnership between Ithaca College and EcoVillage
at Ithaca, the environmental studies program will be offering
classes that research and analyze sustainable relationships
between humans and the natural world.

A
partnership will get under way in late
January when five journalism faculty members from Rostov State
visit the Roy H. Park School of Communications for a semester-long
introduction to the way news is gathered in a democratic society.

The
National Science Foundation has awarded Ithaca College $213,000
to help boost the number of students from traditionally underrepresented
groups in the fields of mathematics and computer science.

Beth Ellen
Clark Joseph has been granted
a $28,330 Cottrell College Science Award from the Research
Corporation to study the composition of a mysterious group
of heavenly bodies known as X-type asteroids.

Ronald
M. Schassburger, an instructor in the Department of Exercise
and Sport Sciences, will present "Pharmacognosy --- The Study
of the Natural Origins of Drug Products.

The winter
Day of Learning for faculty and staff featured a dynamic keynote
address by Dan Pukstas, professor of English and associate
dean at Tompkins
Cortland Community College.

The Department
of Cinema and Photography will
offer a thought-provoking selection of some 30 films as part
of this spring's Cinema on the Edge series.
