Spring Sessions Set for 'Aging' Series

ICGI 2002-3 Series on Aging

The Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center is presenting a 10-session course, "Aging with Chronic Conditions and Disabilities," at the College this spring. The classroom sessions will be held on Wednesdays, beginning on February 12 and ending April 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Clark Lounge, Egbert Hall.

College and university faculty who address aging issues in the classroom, as well as health and social services providers who work with older clients, are encouraged to attend. Participants may select specific sessions or enroll in the complete 10-session series. Those who attend all 10 class sessions are eligible to receive Ithaca College continuing education units and a certificate of completion from the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center. The fee per class session is $15. The fee for the complete series is $100.

Interested participants may register by mail, by fax, or online. Forms are available at the Series on Aging webiste. Participants may also have forms mailed to them by calling 274-1965. The registration deadline for the entire series is February 5. Registration for individual sessions must be completed one week prior to the session.

The Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center is a consortium consisting of the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute, University of Rochester, Monroe Community Hospital, Cornell University Applied Gerontology Research Institute, and Nazareth College. The FLGEC mission is to provide educational programs that enhance the knowledge and skills of educators and health professionals who work with the older population in the Finger Lakes area.

"Aging with Chronic Conditions and Disabilities" is hosted by the Division of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions with support from the Gerontology Workshop Series and the Allied Health Geriatric Interdisciplinary Team Training project.
