Class of '03 Starts CampaignThe senior class gift campaign got underway in February with a goal of 400 participants and an overall giving level of $25,000. "In our time at the College we have grown both personally and professionally," says Jen Blanco, cochair of the Senior Class Gift Committee. "We've explored new opportunities and ideas and are learning how to cope in a changing world. When we graduate, we'll take with us some wonderful memories of our college years, and it's time to think about leaving behind more than just memories." Last fall the gift committee surveyed members of the senior class to select an appropriate project for the campaign. The first choice was a clock to be placed in a central location on campus. A minimum of $15,000 will be needed to fund the project. "The clock will serve as a permanent tribute to the class of 2003," says gift committee cochair Ryan Prosser. "It will show prospective students and other visitors that senior class gifts are an important part of the campus community. The legacy of the class of 2003 will truly withstand the test of time." While fund-raising efforts will be focused on the clock project, seniors may direct their gifts to any area of the College that is important to them. The most important thing, say the cochairs, is for students to participate. To encourage this, the Alumni Association Board of Directors has agreed to a challenge: for every 20 gifts from members of the senior class, exclusive of parents, the board will contribute $100, up to $2,003. As an additional incentive, seniors may be admitted to the President's Associates --- the College's leadership giving level --- with a gift of $250. Parents matching a gift for a total of $250 also ensures student membership into the society. For more information call Lynne Pierce, associate director of the Ithaca Fund, at 274-1396.
