At its February
meeting, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees awarded emeritus
status to retired professor John Keshishoglou and granted tenure
and/or promotion to 17 faculty members.

At
its February meeting, held in New York City, the Ithaca College
Board of Trustees discussed a number of important issues
related to the College and approved the budget for the 2003
- 4 school year.

"Walkabout" ---
an Australian aboriginal initiation rite involving a journey
through unknown territory --- has been given new meaning
by the Office of International Programs.

The senior
class gift campaign got underway in February with a goal of
400 participants and an overall giving level of $25,000.
|
The
chamber orchestra, conducted by Jeffrey Grogan and joined by
four faculty guest artists, will travel to the Republic of
Ireland over the spring break to perform concerts in Galway,
Limerick, and Dublin.

The Center
for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Education,
Outreach, and Services has been awarded a grant on tobacco
use prevention and cessation for Ithaca College students who
are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered.

Frank Campos
and Diane Birr will give a free
recital at the College on Thursday, March
6, at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall.

The Department
of Sociology has received funds from the American Sociological
Association (ASA) to strengthen the development of new methods
of introducing students to the use of data.
|
Former
U.S. surgeon general Dr. Joycelyn Elders visited the campus
during Black History Month in February.
