Alumni Weekend

Alumni Weekend is approaching, and we're expecting more alumni and their families to return to South Hill than ever before!

Alumni Weekend is for everyone, but this year we will be holding special celebrations for class years ending in 3 and 8. For instance the 40th-reunion class of 1968, chaired by Jess Nadelman '68, is bringing back Father William Graf for a special Saturday morning conversation about that pivotal time in our country's and campus's history. The Class of 2003 is planning a get-together at the Lost Dog Café downtown, to celebrate its fifth reunion. On Friday night, there will be a special affinity gathering for members of Greek social organizations recognized prior to 1993, and we are antici! pating a great turn-out.

There will be tons of kid-friendly activities, a great picnic on the academic quad, wine tasting from 10 Finger Lakes vineyards, a special reception welcoming alumni celebrating their 50th reunion to the esteemed "perennials club," happy hours, dancing, and lots more!

Plan now to come back to IC, May 30 - June 1. Call your old college friends and make a memorable weekend of it! While you're here, be sure to visit your favorite spots around gorges Ithaca, tour the new sustainable School of Business, look up an old professor or two, and find out about some of the exciting things happening on campus today. Register right now, while you're thinking about it, at www.ithaca.edu/alumniweekend.

Music students to perform at New York's Avery Fisher Hall

Network Nights 2008

Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem will resound through Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, brought to life by some 300 students from the Ithaca College Choral Union -- the Choir, Chorus, and Women's Chorale -- and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of professor of music performance Lawrence Doebler. Assistant professor of music performance Jeffery Meyer will also lead the orchestra in Johannes Brahms's Tragic Overture. The concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. Tickets are available from the L! incoln Center box office at 212-721-6500. The concert will also be performed in Ithaca at a free concert in Ford Hall on Sunday, April 13, at 3:00 p.m.

Since the early 1970s Ithaca College School of Music ensembles have appeared in eight concerts at Lincoln Center. In 1992 the concert featured five world-premieres of compositions commissioned by the school to celebrate the College's centennial. Ten years later the concert celebrated the 80th birthday of Karel Husa, and most recently, 2005, the Choral Union and Symphony Orchestra performed Carl Orff's Carmina Burana in Avery Fisher Hall.
