College Selects Thomas R. Rochon as Eighth President
The
Ithaca College Board of Trustees has announced the unanimous selection of
Thomas R. Rochon, Ph.D., as the eighth president in the institution's 116-year
history. Rochon, who has served since 2003 as executive vice president and
chief academic officer for the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, will
officially begin his duties in Ithaca on July 1. He succeeds Peggy R. Williams,
who will be retiring after 11 years as Ithaca's president.
"Tom brings to Ithaca College exceptional academic and administrative leadership credentials," says Bill Schwab '67, chair of the board of trustees. "His background in directing and developing large and complex institutions, in the classroom, and as a scholar will serve the College well. We eagerly anticipate working with him in furthering Ithaca College's mission and goals."

Alumni Weekend is for everyone, but this year we're holding special celebrations for class years ending in 3 and 8. For instance the class of 1968, chaired by Jess Nadelman, is bringing back Father William Graf for a special Saturday morning conversation about the 1960s -- a pivotal time in the history of both our country and our campus. The members of the class of 2003 are planning a get-together at the Lost Dog Café to celebrate their fifth reunion. On Friday night there will also be a special affinity gathering for Greek social organizations recognized prior to 1993, and we are anticipating a great turnout.
Some additional highlights:
* The Picnic and Party on the Quad, featuring a Finger Lakes wine expo,
as well as tons of activities for the whole family
* Exciting presentations and lectures from alumni and from current and retired
faculty
* Tours of the brand-new School of Business building.
* Opportunities to visit the campuses (South Hill and downtown) and reconnect
with your classmates and faculty
* Music, happy hours, receptions, and so much more!
So come on back to IC, May 30 - June 1. Reconnect with friends, visit beautiful
Ithaca, and find out what's happening on campus. Bring friends, bring family,
bring your sweetheart, or just bring yourself (and a toothbrush). Register
right now, while you're thinking about it!

President's Associates Event at Lincoln Center
Ithaca
College's President's Associates were treated to a special performance of
the Verdi Requiem at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall on April 15 by members
of the Ithaca Choral Union, consisting of the Ithaca College Choir (conducted
by professor of music performance Lawrence Doebler), Women's Chorale (conducted
by professor of music education Janet Galván), Chorus (also conducted
by Janet Galván), and the Symphony Orchestra (conducted by assistant
professor of music performance Jeffery Meyer).
At a reception beforehand, President Peggy R. Williams, who will retire June 1, thanked the President's Associates for supporting the College during the six-and-a-half years of the very successful Campaign for Ithaca College: Making a World of Difference and announced the appointment of Ithaca's new president, Thomas R. Rochon. Rochon will assume his post as president on July 1.
Other highlights of the event were introductions of Ithaca's new dean of
the School of Music, Greg Woodward, M.M. '78, and new dean of the School of

Bombers Bulletin
Sometimes
the weather in the Finger Lakes does actually cooperate with our outdoor plans.
Several Bombers alumni events took place April 26-27 in beautiful Ithaca where
sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s graced the entire weekend.
Friday night kicked off the weekend events with a surprise celebration in honor of Kevin Markwardt, men's swimming and diving coach, for his 25 years of service to Ithaca College. More than 100 alumni and friends gathered to pay tribute to Kevin, and they capped off the night by announcing that they had established a fund in his honor, to which more than $11,000 had been donated so far! Congratulations to Kevin on such an amazing milestone.
Saturday brought alumni from volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, and field hockey to campus. Games involving alumni and current athletes were followed by receptions in the Ithaca-area.
Also, the men's and women's track and field teams held their annual celebration for alumni and parents at their home track meet on April 19 - after the original event on March 29 was rescheduled due to weather. After the meet, about 40 current parents and alumni enjoyed an evening reception at the Tower Club.
We look forward to seeing more of you at future events and, as always, encourage you to stay in touch with current coaches and fellow alumni!
