A Note from the Director of Alumni Relations

I'm delighted to report that the number of alumni who reconnect with classmates, touch base with favorite professors, and serve as volunteers for the College continues to grow. Our office is here to facilitate these connections. So please let us know if there is anything we can do to enhance your experience as an Ithaca College alumnus or alumna.

We invite you to experience IC again by attending this year's Alumni Weekend (June 3-6). We're celebrating class reunions, IC couples, and alumni of the science programs. And business school graduates take note: there'll be a special program on June 5 'that will highlight the many accomplishments of Dean Robert Ullrich, who retires this year, and the exciting plans for the business school. We hope you'll join us.

The 2004 Senior Class Gift -- It Could Be in Your Closet!
The class of 2004 is supporting the creation of a special gathering place that communicates Ithaca College's history and traditions, captures the spirit of the student body, and reflects the breadth of experiences of the entire College community.

In September the senior class voted to designate its class gift to assist with the renovation of the food court seating area in the Campus Center as the place where Ithaca College memories can be displayed and enjoyed by all. The dramatic design plan for the space involves an open and welcoming environment that also serves as a historical experience. The class has chosen "IC Square" as the name for its gift.

We now would like your help. We are seeking memorabilia that represent all aspects of student life here at Ithaca College. Items might include pictures, clothing (clean only, please!), written material, sports equipment, musical instruments, and any other artifacts that represent the variety of student groups and organizations and the richness of student social and academic experiences that are part of the College's history.

Before we can make decisions about what and how things are displayed, we need to get a sense of the items available to us. If you have something you think would be appropriate, please contact Lynne Pierce at lpierce@ithaca.edu or 607-274-1155. The review committee will consider all donations and make final decisions about placement in the display.

Ithaca College has a story to tell and lots of memories to share with faculty, staff, students and their families, potential students, and visitors. Thanks to the class of 2004, we will soon have a welcoming, beautiful place in which to present our history.

ICQ Alumni Spotlight: Mitchell Schorr '94

Heart-Pumping Art

High-energy artist Mitchell Schorr '94 makes high-energy public art in a high-energy city. "I paint life," says Mitchell Schorr '94, "in every aspect, from violence to happy days, from abstract to figurative." And he does, producing works about the World Trade Center attacks and other violent acts, pieces that spoof our obsession with pornography, and works about places, like Cuba, that intrigue him.
