A Note from the President of the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors

During the holiday season we gather to celebrate with family and friends, some of whom are fellow alumni. For many of us the season also provides some much-needed time to reflect on the year past and consider the possibilities that lie ahead. In many ways, the alumni board of directors does the same kind of reflection. At every one of our three annual meetings we discuss how we can enhance offerings to IC's 40,000 alumni. Working with the staff of the College's alumni office, we consistently strive to improve the connection between the College and alumni through programming, communication, outreach, and service. We also strive to make IC's alumni events as meaningful and enjoyable as possible. We hope that you'll take a closer look at the ways your alumni association can benefit you. Let us help you reconnect with classmates, find a new job, continue your education, or get involved with your alma mater through various volunteer opportunities. Ithaca College remains a lifelong friend. Tell us how we can improve that relationship.

Happy holidays!

Class Notes from Your Classmates
Please note that the following class notes are as submitted by alumni and have not been edited for grammar or style.

Chet Carlin (1962)
Hi Everyone. I have spent my life since Ithaca in the professional theatre and, at the moment, I am in Boston at the Wilber Theatre in a wonderful production of As You Like It. It's the first American tour of the Theatre Royal Bath. I'm one of two American actors who joined the company when they arrived in New Haven. I am playing Dennis and covering the roles of Adam, Corin, LeBeau and Sir Oliver Martext. This is a highly praised production, directed by the legendary Sir Peter Hall and starring his remarkable daughter, Rebecca Hall.

In the meantime, Miriam, my wife of 34 years, and I are building a home in Parksville, NY -- a life to be lived in the country after 34 years living in Brooklyn, NY. We're both thrilled and daunted by this undertaking.

Patricia (Mohan) Hanson (1981)
I have been living in Minnesota since the summer of '81... Married Brad in '87 and had a wonderful 16-year marriage with him. He lost his life to lung cancer on September 25, 2003, at age 38. He was the absolute best!

Nicholas Gersbach (1996)
Nicholas Gersbach (1996, School of H&S) and Lindsay Gersbach are proud to announce the birth of a baby girl, Minna Crawford. She was born on May 27, 2003, in Philadelphia, and weighed 8 lb., 0 oz.

Jeff Levi (2002)
Jeff Levi (2002, School of H&S) and Emily Freedman (2001, School of HSHP) were engaged in Costa Del Sol, Spain, on April 17, 2003. The wedding ceremony will take place on June 5, 2005, in Rivervale, NJ.

ICQ Alumni Spotlight: Jackson Knowlton '69

Alumnus Takes the Derby

Jackson Knowlton '69 (front right) had a spectacular May 3, when Funny Cide, the horse he co-owns with five high school friends and four partners, won the Kentucky Derby. The gelding, purchased by the group's Sackatoga Stables for just $75,000, was the first gelding since 1929 and the first-ever New York State-bred horse to take the coveted blanket of roses.
