Progress Report: New School of Business Building

School of Business building The new School of Business building continues to make rapid progress and remains on schedule to open for classes in January. Visible from nearly everywhere on South Hill, the new building is a symbol of a program on the rise. In recent weeks, installation of glass has begun and work has started on the stone exterior. Meanwhile, the School of Business faculty and staff are preparing to occupy their new home. "Our goal is to offer a business education as unique and innovative as the building in which our classes will be taught," says Dean Susan West Engelkemeyer.

Ithaca College Exhibit at the History Center

Join us for the grand opening of the exhibit From Downtown to South Hill: Ithaca College Is Ithaca's College during Homecoming weekend, October 6-7, at the History Center in Tompkins County.

When William Grant Egbert rented four rooms on East Seneca Street in 1892 for his Ithaca Conservatory of Music, he not only founded what was to become Ithaca College, he launched a partnership between the Ithaca community and the College. In celebration of this rich and enduring connection, the History Center and Ithaca College are presenting a multimedia exhibit on the College's 115 years in Ithaca.

What a Fabulous Weekend!

Over 800 alumni and guests gathered on the IC campus June 1-3 to celebrate reunions, catch up with friends, and visit their old stomping grounds. The campus was abuzz with activity and squeals of recognition, and the weather glorious.

On Friday night Due Colori ("two colors"), the celebrated musical duo comprising soprano Megan Monaghan '97 and classical guitarist and lutenist Daniel Boring '98, gave a stellar concert in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. Also that night the '62 championship baseball team and business school alumni from the early '60s held special reunions.

Saturday morning the '62 baseball team met again for breakfast while other alumni joined their former professors at the first annual breakfast with retired faculty and administrators. The sun kept shining Saturday afternoon for the weekend's "main event": the picnic and party on the quad. Over 600 people feasted on a bounty of picnic food while listening to music and chatting with old friends. The moon bounce, magician, and pirate-themed children's activities were a huge hit with the "future alumni" of Ithaca College!

Saturday night the annual alumni awards dinner and celebration honored the recipients of the 2007 alumni awards: Jay L. Linden '72 (Edgar "Dusty" Bredbenner Jr. '50 Distinguished Alumni Award), the late Susan A. DiPace '74 (Edgar "Dusty" Bredbenner Jr. '50 Distinguished Alumni Award), Robert W. Christina '62 (Lifetime Achievement Award), Laverne L. Light '42 (Lifetime Achievement Award), Richard H. Jadick '87 (Professional Achievement Award), James J. Byrnes and Terry R. Byrnes (James J. Whalen Meritorious Service Award), and Russell J. Tucker '97 (Outstanding Young Alumni Award).
