A Note from the President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors
My colleagues on the board are dedicated people who devote their energy to benefit all Ithaca College alumni. Their work helps bring alumni closer to one another and informs them about the fantastic things happening on campus.
During the weekend, the board heard presentations from Dianne Lynch, the new dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications, and Howard Erlich, dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences, and discussed how alumni could assist the schools. Board members also met with a panel of student leaders and heard how enthusiastic they were about Ithaca and how they looked forward to becoming active alumni. The board participated in a celebration of the senior class gift effort and engaged in alumni work at the committee level. In addition, the board elected new officers as well as five alumni to three-year terms on the board of directors. We welcome Robert Bluey '01, Mark Dicker '77, Jonathan Lesser '91, Lisa Nappi '99, and Jiaoujie "Claire" Qu, M.S. '00.
New officers of the board are Michael Kaplan '85, president; Susan DiPace '74, vice president; and Dave Wohlhueter '60, secretary. Their terms begin in June. We join together in congratulating our new leadership.
As always, we encourage you to nominate alumni who would enhance the work of the board of directors.

Upcoming Alumni Events
Featured Event:
Coach Suddaby's 20th Reunion Dinner
We had a great weekend February 19-20 honoring our gymnastics coach. While Rick Suddaby celebrated his 20th anniversary at Ithaca, we alumni had a grand 'ol time meeting new alumni and new team members, and catching up with "old" ones, all while seeing Ithaca in its new form. To celebrate with Rick, some of us came for dinner on Saturday night, some came for the Harriet Marranca Invitational meet (and enjoyed Ithaca winning that competition), and some troopers stayed the whole weekend! Congratulations, Rick, from your alumni.
Warmly,
Lindsey Broich Krauss '97

L. Rosie Elgart (2001, School of H&S) writes, "I would like to thank the IC Writing Dept for their encouragement and support over the years. I am honored to be included among the eleven poets selected by the Library of Congress in their online September 11th collection. I look forward to publishing in happier arenas in the future."
Brenda (Eisenhauer) Brady (1995, School of Communications) and David Brady are proud to announce the birth of a baby girl, Elise Magdalena. She was born on November 13, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC, and weighed 7 lb., 10 oz. We are overjoyed to announce the arrival of our little angel. She has changed our lives forever in the best way possible. I have traded in my professional career to stay home and raise Elise. It is the most rewarding job I've ever had. We are truly blessed.
Bob Fox (1988, School of H&S) writes, "I have recently joined Emic Networks to head up technical sales on the east coast. Previously, I had spent many years at Sun Microsystems and Veritas Software. Emic provides availability and scalability solutions for Linux databases. Check us out at www.emicnetworks.com!"
Chet Carlin (1962, School of H&S) writes, "Hi, everyone, I wanted to let everyone in the New York City area know that I appeared in a unique and wonderful play entitled 'Shift Change' at the Producer's Club II, 616 Ninth Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets this past February. This was an extraordinary new two character play which just happens to have been written by my son, Ben Carlin (brother to Matthew Carlin, a successful young attorney here in NYC and also an Ithaca alumnus). I am thrilled and honored to have appeared in Ben's first New York production. I've always known he was a terrific writer. In fact, he is the co-screenwriter of a film that just finished shooting in Miami with Michael Rappaport and Chazz Palminteri entitled 'The Other Side.' " [Chet Carlin's note didn't arrive in time to appear in the January/February issue of yourIthaca, so his announcement about the upcoming performance in February has been edited to the past tense. —Office of Alumni Relations]

The Bride Wears Combat Boots
This is a modern twist on a classic wartime tale: A couple is engaged to be married, and then the orders arrive for the soldier's imminent departure to a war zone. Only this time it is not the man who is being sent to the battlefront. It's the bride-to-be, and her departure is scheduled almost immediately, well before their planned February 2005 wedding day.
